Empezar

Día a día

¿Puedo grabar a otras personas?

Getting started

How do I connect my Apple Watch to Evoca?

Evoca uses the watch you already have paired with your iPhone: there is nothing to pair inside the app.

  1. Install Evoca on your iPhone. If it does not install on the watch by itself, open the Watch app on your iPhone, go to “My Watch”, find Evoca under “Available Apps” and tap “Install”.
  2. Open Evoca on your iPhone and grant the permissions it asks for. You can change all of them later in iOS Settings.
  3. Open Evoca on the watch. In Evoca Settings (the gear on the Today screen), Apple Watch section, you will see “Evoca instalada” (Evoca installed). If it says “Falta instalar Evoca” (Evoca is not installed yet) or “Sin emparejar” (not paired), repeat the first step or pair the watch from the Watch app.
  4. Start with one tap on the watch screen. Tap again or double tap to mark an important moment, and press and hold to stop. From the iPhone, the same section also has the Grabar (Record), Momento (Moment) and Parar (Stop) buttons.
What do I need to use Evoca?

An iPhone with iOS 18 or later. To record from your wrist you also need an Apple Watch with watchOS 11 or later, paired with that iPhone. Without a watch you can still record with your iPhone, from the “Grabar con el iPhone” (Record with iPhone) card on the Hoy (Today) tab.

Evoca is free. Summaries with Apple Intelligence only appear on compatible devices where it is turned on.

Why do I have to download a transcription model?

To transcribe accurately without sending your audio to any server, Evoca uses the Parakeet model, which runs on your iPhone (Whisper is an alternative in Settings). It downloads once and takes about 630 MB.

Do it on Wi-Fi, with your iPhone charging and with free space: in Evoca Settings, “Transcripción en el iPhone” (Transcription on iPhone) section, tap “Descargar” (Download). If it is interrupted, tap it again. When it finishes, transcription works offline.

If your iPhone supports it, Evoca also makes a quick first pass with Apple’s speech recognition and improves it with Parakeet as soon as you open Evoca.

Day to day

How do I save battery?

Recording all day uses watch battery. These habits help:

  • Start the day with a charged watch and charge it overnight.
  • Keep your iPhone nearby: fragments are sent as they are recorded and the watch deletes them as soon as the iPhone confirms them.
  • Leave your iPhone charging overnight. That is when Evoca improves transcripts without using your battery during the day.
  • If your iPhone battery is low, avoid “Transcribir pendientes ahora” (Transcribe pending now) and do it on the charger.
  • Stop recording when you do not need it.
A call or Siri interrupts the recording

Evoca sends a notification to your watch, if you have allowed alerts, so you can continue with one tap. Open it and carry on: the fragments already recorded are sent to the iPhone as usual.

I record with the watch, but nothing shows up on the iPhone

Fragments are sent automatically and the watch only deletes the ones the iPhone has confirmed, so nothing is lost: they are resent until they arrive. Try this:

  • Open Evoca on both the iPhone and the watch.
  • Check that Bluetooth and Wi-Fi are on and that the iPhone is nearby.
  • On the watch’s second screen, “Por enviar” (To send) shows how many fragments are waiting.
  • If the number does not go down, restart the iPhone and the watch.

Your data

How do I export my transcripts?
  1. In Evoca Settings, Export section, tap “Carpeta de destino” (Destination folder) and choose a folder in Files: on your iPhone, in iCloud Drive or in Google Drive.
  2. Tap “Exportar ahora” (Export now). With “Exportar cada noche” (Export every night) turned on, it happens on its own.

Each day is saved in its own folder, with a Markdown file to read it and a JSONL file (evoca.export/1 format) to process it with other tools. Turn on “Incluir el audio” (Include audio) if you also want to copy the recordings. Exporting deletes nothing from Evoca.

How do I delete my data?

In Evoca Settings, Privacy section, tap “Borrar todos los datos” (Delete all data) and confirm with “Borrar todo” (Delete everything). Recordings, transcripts and moments are permanently removed from the iPhone.

What you already exported is not touched: delete it from Files if you want.

To delete only old audio, choose how long to keep it in the Storage section: always, 90, 30 or 7 days. Transcripts are kept. To remove everything, including the downloaded model, delete the app on the iPhone and on the watch.

Is anything sent to the internet?

No. Evoca has no servers or accounts, and it sends your audio, transcripts and Health data nowhere. It only connects to download the transcription model, and iOS may also download the language resources for Apple’s speech recognition. Read the full privacy policy.

Can I record other people?

Evoca records the audio around you. Before recording other people, tell them and ask for their consent where the law requires it: in many places it is mandatory. You are responsible for complying with the rules that apply to you.
